It’s time to bundle up those Pygmy Date Palms (Phoenix roebelenii). They are the most popular form of palm tree in Las Vegas and throughout the U.S. as an accent in tropical landscapes. It adapts very well to our Las Vegas enviroment. It grows well in full sun or partial shade. The trees can also tolerate low light surroudings and tolorates most soil conditions. But, during times where our temps reach freezing levels and especially when the tree has been recently planted, we need to keep the crown of this plant protected. We recomend taking a burlap or maybe even an old blanket and wrapping the tree multiple times leaving the fronds exposed but tightly protecting the crown. Generally, we can be safe to take the wrap off in time for kickoff on Super Bowl Sunday
